Richard West, Executive Director RICHARD WEST is a designer and facilitator of human development process. He received a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois in the United States after which he taught farm management and managed his own agricultural business for thirteen years as well as serving as an instructor in farm management, developing and teaching professional management courses in a community college.Since joining the staff of the Institute of Cultural
Affairs in 1972, he has been consultant, project director, facilitator,
researcher, and counselor as needed in ICA ventures. He has worked since
1974 in major projects in Asia including Malaysia, Indonesia, India
and Taiwan and shorter term programs in Nigeria, Egypt, Australia, Canada,
the U.S., Thailand, Korea, China and the Philippines. His clients include
companies, government agencies, foundations, and communities. <TOP>
Lawrence E. Philbrook, Director LAWRENCE E. PHILBROOK is a facilitator and organizational transformation consultant, has been designing processes for teams and leaders in varied cultural settings for over twenty years.Lawrence joined the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA) in 1972 and has worked outside the US since 1977 doing extensive company and community-based projects in over 20 nations.For the past 8 years he has lived in Taiwan while working across Asia. After the leaving the US his first ten years was
focused on initiating effective development partnerships between private
companies, government organizations, and rural communities, which involved
work in Africa and Asia. Beginning 1985 Mr. Philbrook began facilitating
processes for private sector groups building a sense of respect and
trust within organizations, developing practical commitment to change.
His clients include several well-known multinational organizations as
well as local organizations in several countries.
GAIL WEST has spent the last 28 years in human development projects in communities within companies, government organizations and not-for-profit groups in Asia, Europe and the US. As staff of the ICA, a global human development network organization centered in Brussels, Belgium, she has lived in the USA, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and is now resident in Taiwan. She has been instrumental in contributing to ICA's "Technology of Participation", and has for the last several years been in intensive collaborative experimental alliances to introduce community building and other "individual potential" technologies in Asia, integrating them into a transformational format for organizations Gail specializes in design, facilitation and documentation of programs and personal development to enable organizations to recreate their systems, leadership skills, culture and working environment in order to become Learning Organizations. She is recognized as a master facilitator and designer of participatory process, trainer, project leader, administrator and has been a mentor to business, government and community leaders throughout her twenty-six years of human resources consulting. Twenty-two years in Asia with the ICA have included long-term consultancies with people at all organizational levels as well as community people in multi-cultural environments. Several years were spent as residential co-director of Human Development Projects in Malaysia and Indonesia. Gail has a BA in Physiology and worked for 15 years
as a Research Associate at the University of Colorado Medical Center,
the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota and Cook County Hospital, Chicago
before joining ICA.
